This is the blog for an art education project inspired by the Folkestone Triennial 2011. The project is run at the Folkestone Academy by artist-educator Zbigniew Kotkiewicz throughout May-June 2011. Major themes of these art activities are diversity of the means of transport and reasons to travel, memory and the notion of culture. The main points of reference are works by Hew Locke and Hala Elkoussy, the artists participating in the Folkestone Triennial 2011 and diverse elements of the world around us. Students are encouraged to explore the process of imaginative transformation and recycling of objects as well as to share and expand their knowledge of culture and history . The project employs mixed media and aims to introduce students to spatial, sensory and performative experience of making art.
Many thanks to Rosemary Baldwin and all the Folkestone Academy staff for their help and support.
